The city of Orlando has issued a Lake Alert for Lake Fran due to elevated fecal coliform counts from a nearby sanitary sewer overflow.

A blockage in a sanitary line resulted in roughly 900 gallons of sanitary waste to flow into a stormwater system and nearby canal at 1604 Willie Mays Parkway on Lake Fran [GMap].

The City’s Water Reclamation team stopped the overflow and removed 2,000 gallons of impacted water and material from the canal and stormwater system. Warning signs have been placed along the waterfront advising against water contact activities, including irrigation, until further notice.

Please continue to call the Lake Alert number, 407.246.2220, for the most up-to-date information regarding your lake.
