The City of Orlando has officially started on a journey to implement a strategy put in place by Recycle Across America, a non-profit that is pushing for standardized labels on public recycling bins.

The press release that we were given by three different people says that’s important because inconsistent labeling throughout the country has confused everyone so much that people just end up throwing things in the garbage. which has led to a “collapse in U.S. recycling.” Because, humanity. \

This isn’t hyperbole. China stopped buying American recyclables because they’re full of trash. Read more about America’s dirty recycling habits HERE on NPR.

Editor’s Note: True story, I used to work for Keep Winter Park Beautiful and one of the things we did at large city events was to place volunteers at recycling bins to literally show people what could and could not be recycled.

Mayor Dyer will be featured on national campaign commercials for Let’s Recycle Right! which features television and film celebrities, musicians, athletes and other government officials as part of the public service announcement and educational campaign, as seen above.
