The City of Winter Park and Duke Energy will host a public information meeting on Wednesday, October 10 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Winter Park Community Center to discuss the undergrounding of power lines along Fairbanks Avenue.

Construction is expected to begin in November of this year for the year-long project to underground the overhead power lines running along the south side of Fairbanks Avenue from Harper Street to I-4. The project is being funded by a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation.

The meeting will be hosted in an open-house format with representatives from the city, Duke Energy, and project contractors.

Undergrounding power lines is proven to enhance the visual appeal of city streets and protect against damage resulting from high winds and storms.
