That last slice of Mills Park that was listed for sale this spring, will continue to serve as a parking lot for the near future.

A Letter of Determination was filed on September 7  by Forge Capital Partners in the hopes of gaining the approval needed to allow for interim parking on the vacant lot. The specific slice of property referred to in the letter is on top of the stormwater vaults in front of the Gallery at Mills Park Apartments, where the PD calls for a parking garage.

The lot was already approved for temporary parking three times, with the most recent extension having expired in November 2017.

Mills Park is being developed in several phases, with two more buildings planned to front Mills Avenue, with an attached garage of up to 880 spaces in the back to serve the new buildings.

The request to use the lot for temporary parking was approved and will run through February 16, 2019. City Council must vote on whether to approve a two-year temporary use permit, which requires a 6-month determination period.
