A book titled My Tio’s Pulse was just released to assist parent and teachers to have open dialogue with youth, in regards to the Pulse Nightclub shootings in 2016.

The book, penned by local author Keith Newhouse, centers on Angel, a young boy who learns to take his own pulse in gym class and the conversations it opens up with his uncle Luis.

Newhouse wrote the book in cooperation with Kenny Tello, a physician coach from Orlando Health and clinical social worker, who worked with children directly affected by Pulse. The artwork is by Ethan Long, a prolific children’s book author and illustrator whose name you may recall as he painted a number of electric boxes in the College Park Main Street district.

21 local artists were also involved in the project which officially premiered at the Come Out With Pride event this past weekend.

The book is available for purchase at MyTiosPulse.com or HERE in our Amazon.com Shop. Funds raised through sales of the book will go towards supporting the Orlando United Assistance Center (Website).
