The City wants to give you a free tree

Pretend you're Persephone by planting some pomegranate trees in your yard.

The City of Orlando is offering free trees to residents as part of their Energy-Saving Trees program, supported by the Orlando Utilities Commission, Florida Forest Service, and Arbor Day Foundation.

Residents are able to get one of the following trees for their yards:

  • Red Maple
  • Bald Cypress
  • Nuttall Oak
  • Live Oak
  • Tea Olive
  • Persimmon
  • Pomegranate

By strategically adding three to four mature shade trees to your yard, you can save up to 30 percent on your summer cooling costs.
