The long awaited Colonial Drive Pedestrian Bridge is finally finished and open to the public.

We first wrote about the project HERE in 2014 when Matt Broffman was still covering the news for us, Obama was restoring diplomatic relations with Cuba, and Robin Williams passed away.

The quarter-mile bridge now connects an extended Gertrude’s Walk via the LYNX Central Station to the North Quarter and the nearby Orlando Urban Trail.

The bridge cost nearly $10 million and was mostly funded by the Florida Department of Transportation.

An official opening event with the Mayor, local community members, and nearby businesses is being scheduled for April 16.
