Call for Artists: OIA accepting applications for iconic art piece

The Orlando International Airport is looking for applications from artists or a group of artists to create an “iconic art piece” for South Terminal C.

The South Terminal Complex is a new $2.8 billion terminal that is currently under construction and will connect to the North Terminal via an “Automated People Mover System” and will include 18 international and domestic gates, ground transportation facilities, rental and food concessions and more and is expected to open in 2021.

The winning installation will be featured in a multistory glass enclosed space measuring roughly 60 x 80 feet near the arrivals area. They’re really looking for a “wow” statement piece to install there, in a “timeless, forward-thinking and modern way.”

The selection process involves two steps:

1. Request for Qualifications Process to select up to four shortlisted artists or artist teams.
2. Request for Proposals for shortlisted artists or teams with stipends included
