The City of Winter Park has launched a special task force to research possible uses for the current library site, after they open the new library and event center in Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

The bluntly-named Old Library Site Reuse Task Force will meet every two weeks to discuss the future of the site, located at 460 E. New England Avenue [GMap] until August 31 where they will submit their recommendations to the City Commission or ask for an extension to continue their research.

Some options already floated by City staff include selling the property, leasing it to a new tenant, relocating City Hall to the site, or using it to house local non-profits and arts and cultural organizations.

The task force is set to meet on Wednesday, May 8 at noon in the Winter Park City Commission Chambers.
