Short answer, reader, yes they are expanding the dog park.

The City of Orlando will close the Constitution Green Dog Park for scheduled maintenance and to add a few new amenities, including a larger plaza area, more public seating, new sod, new curbs, and more mulched areas.

The dog area will be slightly enlarged and the drainage will also be improved so it can dry out faster following rainfall.

According to the City’s Public Information Officer, Karyn “The Rockstar” Barber, the overhaul is expected to take roughly eight to ten weeks; which includes time for the sod to sit and take root before people are allowed to play on it.

Barber reiterated that during this phase, Downtown residents could still take advantage of other nearby dog parks, including:

Lake Druid

The dog park includes areas for small and large dogs, shade trees, benches, waste receptacles, doggie-bag dispensers, dog drinking fountains, fire hydrants, re-purposed storm pipes, and an entrance with double gates, benches, and a dog wash station.

Barnett Dog Park

4801 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL 32808
Sunday 1-8 p.m., Monday-Saturday 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

This fenced dog park has an area for small and large dogs, shade, benches, drinking water, and a dog rinse area.

Park of the Americas

8 a.m.–9 p.m.

Dog park with separate area for small and large dogs, shade trees, benches, waste receptacles, doggie-bag dispensers, dog drinking fountains, re-purposed storm pipes for dog agility activities, and an entrance with double gates.
