EDIT: The original College Park location’s building was sold to Jorge Boone who is leasing it to Foxtail/Bagel Bruno.

Hubbly Bubbly is closing its downtown location.

The Downtown annex was opened at 131 N. Orange Avenue [GMap] in June 2017 as the second location of the locally-based falafel restaurant.

Hubbly Bubbly owner Mark Unger told Bungalower he was choosing to shutter the shop simply because he had too many other things to focus on with growing his business at PUSH (Website) and the restaurant wasn’t getting the love it needed.

“I love it too much to let it go.”
– Mark Unger

Unger said that rather than selling the business, that he would be taking this time to revision and repackage the whole Hubbly Bubbly concept in order to relaunch it in the near future. Unger also shared that the recent closing of his original Edgewater location (the building is currently owned by Jorge Boone who is they still own the building and are leasing it to Foxtail Coffee) has helped him to really look at the overall positioning of the concept.

Unger was very clear in stating that the decision to close this location had nothing to do with the location or the ownership of the building, but rather was more focused on the brand not being the right fit for the location.

Hubbly Bubbly Downtown is expected to close by the end of the month.
