Electronic Arts (EA Games), the company behind the successful Madden NFL game series, has let slip that they will be moving their local offices out of Maitland and into downtown Orlando.

The move is expected to happen as soon as 2021 if an incentive package of as much as $9 million in property taxes is approved by City Council in the near future.

The move would see the game company relocating 700 employees to a new $62 million facility in Creative Village into a planned five-story office building. Plans are to grow its workforce to 1,000 employees by 2025. Creative Village Development, led by Ustler Development Co., would buy the property that would host the new building.

Plans also call for a 625-space parking garage and an outdoor plaza area.

The announcement is a big get for the Creative Village campus, which is planned to be a Mecca for tech companies with access to young talent at the newly-opened UCF and Valencia campuses.

The deal is expected to close by May 2020.
