City Council approves purchase of The Plaza Live venue

-

The Orlando City Council voted on Monday, October 7 to approve the purchase of The Plaza Live concert and event venue in the Milk District.

The City will purchase the venue, located at 425 N. Bumby Avenue [GMap] and lease it back to the Orlando Philharmonic Plaza Foundation for one dollar a year for a term of 25 years, with an option to extend.

Funding for the project was passed on March 15, 2019, by Orange County’s Tourist Development Tax Application Review Committee and the Tourist Development Council in the amount of $10 million. The funds will be used to facilitate the transfer of ownership to the City of Orlando and to carry out needed renovations of the building.
