The Central Florida Tech Alliance (Facebook | Website) has disbanded, as of October 7.
The Alliance was launched in 2011 as the Orlando Tech Association, before being lumped in with the city’s Main Street program as the first-ever “Digital Main Street” years later. Which some would say was a clever way to designate funding to tech initiatives without having to go full-in on the idea of a real tech-based economic strategy without dipping our toes in first.
The tech-focused business program then sidestepped out of that relationship and formed a partnership with Orlando Inc., the city’s chamber of commerce, before the chamber merged with the Economic Development Commission and the Central Florida Partnership in 2017; becoming the Orlando Economic Partnership.
The program later evolved into The Central Florida Tech Alliance in 2018 in an attempt to tie together a seven-county region of Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole, and Volusia counties.
The Board of Directors of the Central Florida Tech Alliance has since posted on their LinkedIn account, HERE, that they have dissolved the organization, effective immediately.
Central Florida Tech Alliance CEO told Orlando Business Journal that the organization’s financial approach proved to be “unsustainable.”
