The City of Winter Park is seeking an artist and/or architect/designer to submit proposals for artwork along the I-4 corridor.

The initiative is part of the I-4 Ultimate Art Endowment Program that we reported on HERE in August 2019. I-4 Mobility Partners are shelling out $1.5 million to fund art projects all along a 21-mile stretch of the interstate from Altamonte Springs to just south of Orlando.

Each city is in charge of its own selection process and as such are launching at different times. All installations must be in place by February 2021.

The Winter Park project has $150,000 set aside for it and will be located by the West Fairbanks Avenue off-ramp into Winter Park.

The project is open to all artists, artist teams, and architects with preference given to Central Florida-based artists.

Application proposals are due by December 2, 2019 and must include a resume with reference to completed public art projects, a statement of intent, description of proposal, concept and approach. The proposal must have one to five illustrations or drawings of the proposal with dimensions, general site plan, materials, colors, theme, lighting requirements, estimated installation requirements, maintenance requirements, and the theme’s relationship to Winter Park.

Submissions can be sent to:

City of Winter Park CRA/ED Department
401 S. Park Avenue
Winter Park, FL 32789
