A new Domino’s Pizza location will open in the former Porter Paints building at 700 E. Colonial Drive [GMap].

The front half of the building will be used as the restaurant space with the balk half being used for storage and restrooms.

A timeline for the opening had not been released at the time of this post.

The building was once home to Porter Paints and the sign out front was given Landmark Sign Status by a City ordinance in 1995 when the then manager filed paperwork to try to keep the new owners from tampering with it.

The sign is made of porcelain enamel faced metal panels and is the only known sign of its type in City limits. The sign was most likely constructed in the mid-1900s when Colonial Drive traffic started to increase.

News on how the sign will be incorporated into the new design is pending.
