Sperry Deli and Creamery (Facebook | Website) will soon open in the historic Veranda at Thornton Park.

Named after the 21st Mayor of Orlando who once lived on the property, Mayor Frank Ezra Sperry, the deli is expected to open in the front building of the complex in early January 2020.

The deli is a project led by Paul Hughes, the property owner, in cooperation with Charlie Baumis, who came to the project after a long stint at the now-closed Dexter’s Thornton Park restaurant just across the street.

Sperry Deli will be serving up a menu of made-to-order sandwiches for lunch and dinner and a variety of Hershey’s ice cream with low fat and low sugar options. Click HERE for the menu.

Side note, Mayor Sperry died while in office at the age of 73 in 1916, three years into his term. A replica of the Sperry Fountain sits by Lake Eola and the original is on display in Greenwood Cemetery – albeit, in rough shape.
