The Municipal Planning Board will hear a pitch to revise Part 4(2) R of Chapter 48 of City Code that would delete the current caps on Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers within city limits and remove restrictions on the cultivation and processing of the drug.

The current cap of seven total medical marijuana dispensaries was imposed in June 2017 and allowed one location per the seven state-approved companies at that time.

If approved by the Municipal Planning Board at the scheduled February 18 hearing, the proposal would go before City Council for a vote later that same month.

The State has since allowed 22 companies to open dispensaries in Florida with an expected 35 to open in late spring of 2020.
