Miami-based donut shop, The Salty Donut – Artisanal Donut Shoppe and Coffee Bar (Website) could be opening a new Orlando location in the former Gene’s Auto Service in Audubon Park.

The news was reported on the Audubon Park Garden District Facebook page and confirmed by the restaurant, albeit coyly, in the comment section. We reached out to the company for more information and they responded with the following:

“What we’re doing right now during our search nationwide on where we should go next is sharing a city request form where we can see how many people would love for us to join their city – helping us decide what cities to focus more on!”
– Danny Pizarro,
director of marketing

Essentially, the company is hosting a hype campaign similar to Amazon, looking to see which community wants them the most and then responding accordingly. You can submit a formal request for The Salty Donut to open a location in Orlando HERE but according to Pizarro, the Director of Marketing, nothing is set in stone at this time.

The Salty Donut is known for its unique coffee program and knowledgeable staff and its craft donuts range from traditional brioche glazed varieties to carrot cake, lemon poppyseed cake donut, and vegan peanut butter and jelly. They’re Instagram darlings and have 190,000 followers.

Gene’s Auto Service was located at 3025 Corrine Drive [GMap] and closed in February 2019.
