Aldi and Publix have expressed interest in purchasing some discount Lucky’s Market Stores throughout the state following the news of the chain’s Kroger-caused financial issues that led it to close 32 of its 39 stores.

A Publix spokeswoman confirmed earlier in the week that the Lakeland-based grocer would be purchasing five Lucky’s leases, including the Orlando store on South Orange Avenue.

Aldi, which is still in negotiations with Lucky’s corporate, has confirmed the purchase of six Florida stores themselves. According to a recent press release, Aldi will be purchasing stores in Coral Springs, FL; Oakland Park, FL; Sarasota, FL; Vineland, FL; Venice, FL; and the recently opened Colonial Landing Lucky’s location in Orlando.

The founders of Lucky’s, Bo and Trish Sharon, have entered into an Asset Purchase Agreement with Lucky’s corporate for the seven remaining locations.
