WUCF TV is hard at work at a new initiative that would showcase the region’s arts organizations on the national stage.

WUCF TV featured a Christmas concert by the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park last year that was aired on our local PBS channel, showcasing the talents of the local 175-voice choir to millions of viewers. That project was in fact, a pilot, for an entire series of videos that will showcase the best of our local arts organizations to affiliates across the United States called the Arts & Culture Collective Impact Program.

WUCF is currently in the very early stages of working on a deal with the Programming Service for Public Television which sets the on-air schedule for 40 percent of the stations across the country. If successful, that would mean a national program distribution for WUCF TV’s programming with just under half of the country’s PBS stations. That’s just the beginning.

WUCF also recently hired a new Director of Development, Rachelle Anderson, who comes to the job via Salt Lake City PBS and Idaho PBS in Boise, to lead their fundraising efforts.

Keep your eyes peeled for more developments on this initiative throughout the summer as we could very well be watching performances by Orlando Ballet or the Orlando Opera on television over the holidays if the fundraising proves fruitful.
