South Eola is getting a hybrid concept shop in Camden Thornton Park later this year that combines a few different concepts into one.

Bynx Orlando (Facebook | Website) is a new concept by the Reid family, led by local musician James Reid, that will be located at 420 E. Church Street [GMap] and will have a cafe and a retail area with collectibles, books, and records.

Bynx will serving specialty coffees and have started working with Verve (Website) in Santa Cruz, California.

The new retail concept will measure in at a whopping 2,943 SF and will also feature a recording studio, spearheaded by James who graduated from Full Sail with a degree in recording arts and who has been a musician for the past 15 years.

The recording studio is being outfitted with a console and gear from Vintage King (Website) out of California and will be able to host podcasts, vodcasts, and more. When it’s not being used for recording the Reids are hoping to use the space showcase things that celebrate music like vintage tour posters and musical ephemera.

Bynx, which is named after James’ cat which is in turn named after the talking cat in Hocus Pocus, is currently operating out of a Volkswagen bus at pop-ups and events around the region while they await the opening of the brick and mortar shop and just had a pop-up at the Rockin Robinson street party in the Milk District and Barley and Vine Biergarten.

The buildout process is just about to start at the new Cambden Thornton Park location and is expected to be finished later this year, with a conservative estimate of a late fall/early winter opening.

Stay tuned for more information on this new concept in the near future.
