The Orange County Library System announced on its Facebook page yesterday that it would cease home delivery service after Thursday, March 26.
The MAYL delivery service allowed library cardholders in the county to check out books online and have them delivered directly to their homes at no charge. Requests for the service dramatically increased in the month of March as a direct result of social distancing and OCLS’s decision to close its branches and non-essential services in the face of the pandemic.
As a result of the decision to temporarily suspend the service, some requested materials may not get processed in time to be delivered.
OCLS also requested that all library customers to please stop using the book return drops to donate. They are not taking book donations at this time. They also stated that all physical materials that have been checked out have been modified with an extended due date of May 1, 2020 – but check your online account to make sure that applies to your materials before you forget what you’ve checked out, y’all.
Library cardholders will still be able to access e-book and audiobook platforms online as well as workshop streaming services HERE.
