During the pandemic, Bungalower Media will be partnering with local bars and restaurants for a series of video workshops where we explore a specific dish or drink.

The first workshop will be hosted by Chef Eliot Hillis, culinary director of Orlando Meats (Facebook | Website) and host of Off-Cuts podcast (Website). Chef Hillis will be sharing a special recipe he has to make your own tasty makgeolli, a Korean alcoholic beverage.

Makgeolli is a type of lightly sparkling rice wine with a milky white coloring that is often referred to as “farmer’s wine” or “drunken rice.” It can have anywhere between 18-25 percent alcohol and is highly nutritious because it contains lots of essential amino acids, sugars, and organic acids as well as vitamins and minerals.

Starting Wednesday, April 15, Orlando Meats will be selling a limited amount of DIY kits that you can purchase for $10 and make along with us from your kitchens on Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m. when we share a special live video featuring Chef Eliot Hillis and our editor Brendan O’Connor.

Orlando Meats is open for delivery and curbside pick-up and is located at 728 Virginia Drive [GMap] in Ivanhoe Village.

There are a limited amount of kits so grab them while you can.
