Instagram users that have a business or creator account can set up a new free service that lets their followers order food directly from their bio or stories.

To set up the option on your Instagram account, be sure to update your app first so you have all the recent wizzgigs and doodads available. Then follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Instagram profile.
  2. Tap “Edit Profile.”
  3. Under “Public Business Information,” tap “Action Buttons.”
  4. Under “Select Button,” choose “Order Food.”
  5. Select a partner for your food orders. We have your options below but you must already be working with them in order to direct people to your page on their platform.

This will let you add a button to your main profile and give you the ability to add clickable stickers to your Instagram stories. When someone taps the Order Food button on your Instagram profile or the Food Orders sticker in your Instagram story, they will be directed to your preferred food delivery partner in the system which currently includes Caviar, ChowNow, Delivery.com, DoorDash, GrubHub, Postmates, and UberEats.

Your best option to support local businesses at this time is to use their own in-house delivery services or arrange curbside pickup, but during the pandemic, we’d like to encourage local businesses to use any and all tools at their disposal.

Plus, we love the idea of being able to order the beautiful food you’re drooling over on your ‘Gram while sitting on your couch in your jogging pants.

Other Instagram buttons local businesses can take advantage of include a new gift card option and a soon-to-be-added fundraiser option that will tie in with Facebook fundraisers.
