Last time we wrote about Mary Westfall, creator of Winter Park Biscuit Company, was back in 2017 and she was known as Mary “Mattern” (she married Neil Westfall from hit band A Day to Remember) and was trying to find the perfect spot in town for a vegan deli concept. Three years and a series of successful pop-ups later, Westfall has finally found a home in East End Market.

Winter Park Biscuit Company is a collaborative effort between the two Westfalls, who met on tour when Mary was a personal chef to Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. The menu is a fast-casual concept of familiar comfort foods but made with non-meat alternatives like chicken and biscuit sandwiches, burgers, french fries, sausage gravy and biscuits, seasonal fruit shortcakes, crab cake sandwiches, and more – all animal-free. They’ll also be serving beer and wine.

They will be taking over the largest stall in the market at the front of the building that formerly housed Bird of Paradise, which specialized in a selection of healthful dishes with bright, tropical flavors. Bird of Paradise owner Emily Rankin told Bungalower that she had to make a tough decision to permanently close the restaurant due to the pandemic and so she could focus on some of her other projects, namely a new location for the Bird of Paradise brand in New Smyrna Beach.

The new vegan eatery and bar is set to open early this summer.
