Lime will relaunch a limited fleet of scooters for public use today, Friday, May 8, after having removed them from the streets during the pandemic.
Along with the relaunch comes the new Lime Aid program which offers free 30-minute rides to healthcare and emergency workers to help them commute to work while avoiding contact with other people.
Health care and emergency workers can sign up for the program by clicking HERE. You will need to upload an image of a government-issued photo ID as a copy of your worker ID badge to prove your status as a valid healthcare/public safety/law enforcement worker to qualify.
Scooters will be deployed in and around downtown, the North Quarter, SODO, Parramore, and in South Eola until further notice.
Lime has increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting their scooters during the pandemic. All Lime staff have been provided with personal protective equipment while working in the warehouses and in the field.
Riders are still advised to wash their hands and wear gloves when they can, to ride solo and practice physical distancing from other riders and pedestrians, and to use the scooters for essential travel only.
Uber recently announced a $170 million investment into Lime.
