Orange County Library System begins reopening branches

The Orange County Library System has issued a release that shares that it is preparing a phased reopening of its branches.

We told you HERE last week that some initiatives had already reopened to the public, including phone lines and mail order delivery services which resumed today, Monday, May 11.

The following branches will begin to reopen on May 18 and will operate Monday through Saturday for essential services only.

• Southeast, 5575 S. Semoran Boulevard [GMap]
• Winter Garden, 805 E. Plant Street [GMap]
• South Trail, 4600 S. Orange Blossom Trail [GMap]
• North Orange, 1211 E. Semoran Boulevard [GMap]
• South Creek, 1702 Deerfield Boulevard [GMap]

Essential services include returns, grab-and-go service, and computer uses for up to one hour. Seating areas, charging stations, and meeting rooms will not be accessible and all customers will be required to wear face coverings while in the library. Capacity inside the libraries will be limited to 25 percent.

The following branches are scheduled to reopen on May 26 – Chickasaw, Eatonville, Fairview Shores, Herndon, Hiawassee, Southwest, Washington Park, West Oaks, and Windermere.

The downtown location is expected to open on June 1 for essential services only, which will include service points at the Information Desk, the children’s library, Library Central, and use of the public computers on the fourth floor. Restrooms will be open on the first floor only and The Melrose Center will remain closed.
