In a follow up to the news shared by Orlando Weekly earlier this week that Rollins College would be tightening its belt and eliminating some vacant positions and cutting some programming, comes the announcement that the Winter Park Institute has been shut down.
The Winter Park Institute (Website) was founded in 2008 as a mechanism to host public speaking engagements featuring world-renowned scholars that everyone could attend, not just students. Some of my personal favorites included the fabulous George Takei, Beyonce of Urbanism Candy Chang, and National Geographic Fellow, Joel Sartore.
Past speakers include Sir Paul McCartney, Dr. Jane Goodall, Paul Simon, and Gloria Steinem.
