RENDERING BY PERKINS AND WILL

The Dr. P. Phillips Foundation will be donating funds for a large pavilion to be constructed in the promised 80-acre park in the up-and-coming Packing District in the Fairvilla/western College Park area of Orlando.

A recent agreement filed with the city for City Council review included reassurances of a donation in the amount of $1.5 million to be used for the construction of the pavilion which is currently estimated to cost roughly $1,548,548. The donation will be made to United Arts of Central Florida, Inc., which will pass the funds on to the City of Orlando in turn. The City of Orlando is treating the pavilion as a Work of Art under its Public Art Ordinance which requires developments to apply one percent of its budget to public art, as required by City Code.

The pavilion will be owned, operated, and managed by the City of Orlando and Dr. Phillips will have the right to use it for twelve calendar days a year, with no more than two of those days being consecutive.
