We told you in January about a new donut shop that was possibly opening in Audubon Park called The Salty Donut. Read more on that HERE.

The Salty Donut – Artisanal Donut Shoppe and Coffee Bar (Website) PR reps were a bit, well, a little salty, when we asked them to confirm the rumor of them opening an Orlando location and told us they were just testing the water to see if we were pumped enough to really want them to come to town before confirming anything.

Paperwork filed with the City of Orlando has confirmed that the Miami-based donut shop is in fact planning to open a shop in the former home of Gene’s Auto Service at 3025 Corrine Drive [GMap] which closed in February 2019.

The Salty Donut, Inc. has applied for assistance through the City of Orlando Small Business Facade, Site Improvement and Adaptive Reuse Program (otherwise known as the city program with the longest name) to pay for a change of use permit, new storefront windows, new landscaping and irrigation, and parking lot improvements.

The project has a total eligible project cost of $213,297 and is expected to be awarded funding in the amount of $50,000 if approved by City Council at the June 1 meeting.

We’ve reached out to The Salty Donut for an estimate on their opening date.
