We often get photographs and tips from our Bungalower readers of things that are happening around town, so we have started featuring them on the site in a series called Eyes on the Street, in honor of our favorite urbanist Jane Jacobs.

“You got any secret insight to what is going in at the old Big Time Street Food location in Thornton Park? It looks like a cookie company.” – Cody Johnson

We told you about the Gnarly Barley team closing its Big Time Street Food Co. concept in Thornton Park this past April HERE. The storefront, located next to Burton’s Bar at 805 E. Washington Street [GMap], has already found a new tenant though and they’re going to be serving some BBQ.

Chef AJ Haines, a Le Cordon Bleu grad who has done stints at popular restaurants like LUMA on Park, Cask and Larder, and most-recently at Pizza Bruno, is heading the new project with Jeff Darnell, GM of downtown staples The Lodge, Burton’s Bar, The Woods.

The Southern-inspired Mason Jar Provisions (Facebook) will feature a menu with a variety of menu but we hear the ribs will be a definite staple. Other items will include family buckets of chicken, fried pickles, salads and slaws, some vegan options like a “collard melt,” and more.

Mason Jar Provisions will also sell a variety of resale items and grab ‘n’ go options and is expected to soft-open in the next couple of weeks.
