“Gideon’s original location opened in late 2016 at Orlando’s East End Market with one employee and an $800 budget … To go from a 286-SF bakery to the international stage that Disney draws is a remarkable experience.” – Steve Lewis
Gideon’s Bakehouse (Facebook | Website) has just announced that it will be opening a second location of its award-winning cookie shop at Disney Springs.
Gideon’s owner, Steve Lewis, told Bungalower that the new shop will be opening in The LAnding at Disney Springs and will offer an expanded menu of its cookies and cake slices along with its own line of unique iced coffees, like the Original Peanut Butter Iced Coffee. Items like the popular once-a-year Coffee Cake Cookie will be available daily at the new shop.
The new storefront will lean into Gideon’s familiar Victorian design aesthetic with collectible art being available for purchase along with their baked goods. Gideon’s was inspired by an antique cookbook published in 1898 that Lewis found that had been filled with notes and doodles from a young boy who had dreams of becoming a baker and who signed his name to the front of the book, “Gideon.”
The new location is being created with new health-and-safety protocols in mind and its operation will model similar guidelines in use elsewhere at Disney Springs.
The flagship store is expected to open later in 2020.
