The 7-Eleven located at 723 N. Mills Avenue [GMap] in the Mills 50 neighborhood closed in December 2018 and has been sitting mostly empty ever since – a laundromat called Kwik Kleen has been operating in a corner retail space in the same building.
The building, which was purchased by Anh Chao of Colonial Investments of Orlando, LLC. last summer, will be demolished soon to make way for a new 8,800 SF retail space to be built in its place. According to paperwork filed with the City of Orlando, the redevelopment of the property includes a two-phase plan for the former 7-Eleven building facing Mills Avenue as well as neighboring properties behind the building, including a 10,000 SF building at 1222 Woodward Street [GMap].
The improvement plan calls for the redevelopment of the Woodward building and subdividing it into separate storefronts as well as the repaving of the parking lot as detailed in the below graphic in the first phase, followed by the construction of the new commercial strip in the second phase.
Glad they are doing something with the property, but how underwhelming the architecture is. Hope this is a placeholder and they really evaluate the area.
