Local nonprofit, Playground City, has hired a new interim Executive Director, Jasmyne Reese.

Playground City (Facebook | Website) is a local 501 c 3 organization with a mission to engage residents in an equitable learning ecosystem that supports education for people of all ages, through educational placemaking and playful learning events.

Reese comes to the position from a stint at the Town of Eatonville where she served as a Neighborhood Coordinator for the past two years. She holds a BS from the University of Central Florida with a specialty in Race and Health Inequities.

Reese issued the following statement about the news.

“I am pleased to accept the interim Executive Director role of Playground City. When change agents come together for a common cause, we immediately transform the future. I am eager to join forces with Playground City, an organization whose commitment to creating equitable learning spaces achieves my ultimate goal; improving the quality of life of underserved communities. The built environment plays an essential role in determining the health of its occupants; so much so that it influences the way we think and see ourselves, replicating a similar environment within our minds. I see Playground City empowering citizens in designing and demanding a city in which they can thrive in.

Together, we will reestablish PGC’s presence in the community and increase the depth of our impact. I am excited to bring a different perspective and skillset to the organization and look forward to creating a more equitable and playful city.”
