PROMO: The Florida Film Festival (Website), which was originally scheduled to launch on April 12 at Enzian Theater, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but has since been rescheduled and is ready to roll.

The Florida Film Festival announced last week that the program lineup for the 29th Annual Festival, rescheduled to August 7-20, 2020, will feature 177 films representing 37 different countries. Of the films selected, 162 have premiere status, including 30 world premieres. The full festival lineup is listed below and film descriptions, trailers, stills, and schedule available on HERE.

The festival will be limited to the Enzian campus only this year rather than featuring other theaters like Regal Winter Park Village, and Enzian will be operating at half-capacity, per state-wide regulations during the pandemic.

Event organizers will be offering a virtual platform that will allow a large number of official selections to be available online. Some highlights include the Sundance Film Festival award-winner Boys State, as well as international features, Adam, and The Perfect Candidate, in addition to a number of short films.

This year’s lineup includes 88 women filmmakers, which is the most there have ever been in the 29-year history of the festival. In addition, they have added a fifth live-action shorts program to the American Independent Competition for the first time, which gives seven more filmmakers a chance at qualifying for an Oscar.

The 18 features and 70 short films in the American Independent Competition will be eligible for up to three awards each: a Grand Jury Award for best film in that category, a Special Jury Award given at the jury’s discretion for exceptional achievements, and an Audience Award determined by audience votes for Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, and Best Short Film. International films are also eligible for Audience Awards for Best International Feature and Best International Short, and an Audience Award will be given for the Best Midnight Short as well.

Individual tickets to the Florida Film Festival at Enzian Theater, and more information on the virtual Florida Film Festival, including the virtual lineup and passes, will be available on July 29.
