We told you HERE and HERE about Church Street Main Street wanting to expand its borders into the Parramore neighborhood but apparently we grossly undersold it, as the borders have been pushed much further than we expected.

Now covering most of the Central Business District, Parramore, Orange Blossom Trail, and Creative Village, the new “City District” has become the largest Main Street America program in Central Florida.

The City District (Facebook | Website) is subdivided into separate “regions” that include Creative Village, PBT, Parramore, Church Street, Orange Avenue, and Wall Street. It is a 501 (c) 6 organization that, “… seeks to serve as policy influencer and a vehicle for business and community enhancement, while ensuring economic stability through event programming, design, marketing, and promotion.”

The fledgling district is hiring an Associate Director position that is currently open HERE, and closing to submissions by July 24 at 5 p.m. The Associate Director will oversee community events and activations primarily in the Parramore area. According to the City, that role will eventually be allowed to split from under The City District’s stewardship to become its own, self-sufficient, Main Street program.

In other news, according to Orlando Business Journal, a group of local executives is banding together to create a NID, or Neighborhood Improvement District in the Parramore area that would reinvest property tax dollars back into local infrastructure and development projects. The initiative is in the early stages of research and development and would need to be approved by City Council before being adopted.
