A new apartment project is being proposed for the vacant two-acre lot located on the northeast corner of Fern Creek Avenue and Colonial Drive [GMap] that formerly housed a restaurant and Chevron gas station that were demolished and remediated.

Trammell Crow Residential (Website) is proposing to develop a 246-unit multifamily apartment complex with a parking garage and pool/courtyard area called “Alexan at Mills 50.” Of those units, 15 would be live/work units. They would also build a 5,600 SF dog park that would be available to the public.

The property was purchased by RaceTrac in 2018 but plans for the gas station fell through.

A new Starbucks that replaced Ice Cold Auto Air just across the street is almost complete.
