SPONSORED: The Art and History Museums – Maitland (Facebook Website) founded in 1938 by architect and artist Jules Andrew Smith as a research studio and haven for fringe artists and served as a commune of sorts for years before becoming the museum it is now.

The museum launched its Artists-in-Action program in 2010, to honor its legacy of providing a space for Central Florida artists to explore and hone their craft and awards one-year residencies to practicing artists in the historic on-site studios.

The Art and History Museums – Maitland is currently exhibiting works created by the resident artists in the New Works exhibition featuring pieces by current Artists-in-Action: Ericka Sobrack, Jacoub Reyes, Matthew Mosher, Nicholas Kalemba, Victoria Walsh, and Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz.

The group exhibition will be on display through January 17 and the Art and History Museums – Maitland campus is located at 231 Packwood Avenue [GMap].

If you’re interested in becoming an Artist-in-Action, the applications for the upcoming 2021-22 Season will open on May 2021 and you can email [email protected] for more information.
