The City of Orlando will allow Halloween celebrations to spill into the streets this week in an effort to promote more social distancing.
City Hall will allow alcohol in the streets in designated areas this year in the Central Business District in an effort to fight the spread of COVID-19 without hobbling local bars and restaurants – which are currently allowed to operate at 100 percent occupancy indoors.
The exact areas to be set aside that will allow for outdoor drinking is yet to be released but will be in areas of downtown that have higher numbers of nighttime establishments like along Orange Avenue.
Alcohol sales will still be limited to inside the bars and restaurants and not in the public right-of-way.
Downtown Ambassadors and the Office of Nighttime Economy are currently distributing PPE and safety kits to nightlife establishments throughout the week in preparation for upcoming Halloween celebrations and providing education on CDC guidelines to business owners. Ambassadors will also hand out face coverings to patrons who need them on the night of Halloween – i.e.. people without face coverings, not just ugly people.
