“I really don’t feel like I have to go to the governor to ask permission to be the mayor of Orange County.”

– Orange County Mayor
jerry Demings

We told you HERE on November 30 that Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings had asked his staff to look into drafting an order that would allow the County to fine repeat COVID-19 offenders and we’re here to tell you that that order has been drafted and signed.

Mayor Demings signed Executive Order 2020-51 on Friday afternoon, putting policies in place that would allow for the following penalties to be laid out against businesses that repeatedly prove to be uncooperative with county inspection teams:

  • $500 fines can be issued by law enforcement and code enforcement teams for any immediate violations found.
  • $1,000 fines per day can now be issued.
  • $5,000 fines per day for repeat offenders, issued by a special magistrate.
  • $15,000 fines for violations that are considered “irreparable or irreversible.”

The order took effect midnight Sunday, December 6.
