UPDATED Information – Lake Formosa is being closely monitored for the presence of microcystins (toxins) by the City and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) staff. On Thursday, January 7, 2021, the City of Orlando staff and DEP will be sampling Lake Formosa again. The City’s tests will provide an update on the presence of microcystins. At this time, the Lake Alert remains in effect until the official results from the DEP show that Lake Formosa is deemed safe by state standards.

A Lake Alert has been issued for Lake Formosa in Ivanhoe Village.

The Department of Environmental Protection collected samples at Lake Formosa that tested positive for microcystins (toxins) during a recent visit. The City of Orlando has since taken their own samples which also tested positive for microcystins, which are believed to have resulted from an algal bloom.

The levels of toxins have been deemed unsafe and the City is advising that all water contact activities be halted until further notice.
