A Rabies Alert has been issued for Delaney Park, south of downtown Orlando, after an otter tested positive for the virus.

The Florida Department of Health has issued a 60-day alert for the following area bordered by these streets:

  • Interstate 4
  • Holden Avenue
  • Conway Road/SR 15
  • East Anderson Street

Pet owners should ensure that their animals are up-to-date with their rabies vaccine and avoid interacting with wild animals. Other precautions include keeping your pets on leash in public areas, refrain from bringing wild animals into your home, and keep your property free of litter or food scraps that could attract animals into your yard.

If your pet has been bitten by a wild animal, you need to call Orange County Animal Services immediately at 407-836-3111. If a person has been bitten or injured, they should contact the Health Department at 407-858-1420.
