The West Lakes Partnership (Facebook | Website) just announced that it will be rehabilitating a single-family home in West Orlando to add to available affordable housing opportunities in the city.

The transformation of the two-bedroom, one-bathroom home at 622 S. Lakeland Avenue [GMap] is part of an ongoing effort by the West Lakes Partnership to restore vacant housing in the area into energy-efficient homes for low-to-moderate-income families. The initiative is part of an ongoing relationship with the City of Orlando to foster homeownership and generational wealth in West Orlando neighborhoods.

The program was inspired by Beyoncé of Urbanism, Majora Carter who said, “You don’t have to move out of your neighborhood to live in a better one.”

  1. Wow!!! Beyoncé of Urbanism?!?!

As a card-carrying member of the BeyHive, I’m of course delighted by the association!

I’m also honored and humbled that a group like West Lakes Partnership was inspired by my work.

And THANK YOU for bringing them to my attention!!

    Warmest regards,
    Majora Carter
