Developers behind the five-story Henderson Hotel project planned for Winter Park have withdrawn their application.

The 132-room hotel, planned for the property at 250 Killarney Drive [GMap] on the eastern shore of Lake Killarney, caused some consternation with local Winter Park NIMBYs who were concerned the project was out-of-scale for the nearby neighborhood.

City of Winter Park Communications Department Director, Clarissa Howard, told Bungalower that at the very end of the public discussion component of the commission meeting, the applicant withdrew the project with no comment.

This isn’t the first time the project has been withdrawn from City Hall though, as Atrium Management previously withdrew the project in February 2020 to retool the application following public concerns over a 245-space parking garage. Atrium then placed the parking below the hotel in the second version of its plans and resubmitted, and was ultimately approved by the Winter Park Planning and Zoning Board.

We’ve reached out to the lead developer, Adam Wonus of Atrium Management, for more information on the future of the hotel project and whether this is another simple retooling of the project design or something else.

Our friends at the32789.com, who were at the public meeting until the wee hours on Wednesday night, have a more exciting and detailed play-by-play of the withdrawal available HERE.
