A new mural by local artist Jonathan Stemberger (Instagram) is being installed in the Central Business District right now.

Note: Click HERE for an interview with Stemberger by Bungalower Buddy, The Townie Tourist.

Funds for the project came from the Downtown Orlando Partnership and its Avrio Foundation (Website), which, some of you may recall, hosted a PlaceMaker Soiree fundraiser in 2019 that we helped co-host. The funds were used to secure the permitting from the City of Orlando to be allowed to paint on a historic building in a historic district and to pay a local artist – which was very important to everyone involved, especially during a pandemic.

The Downtown Arts District then worked with the DOP to fund a temporary mural project in their outdoor courtyard area while they start to ramp up for a capital campaign to completely transform the current alleyway into a fancy art space. More on that HERE.

Stay tuned for more fun placemaking projects in downtown Orlando.

CityArts is located at 39 S. Magnolia Avenue [GMap].
