The Orlando Museum of Art (Website) has announced the appointment of Aaron De Groft, Ph.D., as its new director and CEO.

De Groft comes to the position with over 20 years of experience as a museum executive and achievements like expanding a $3 million endowment to $32 million for the Muscarelle Museum of Art at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, where he served as the director for 14 years.

DeGroft has also served as the deputy director of the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art for ten years and the chief curator of the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens in Jacksonville.

DeGroft will be the fourth director in the museum’s 100-year history, and will be busy planning for its centennial celebration in 2024.

Previous director, Glen Gentele, stepped down in February 2020.
