That mural we told you about HERE in February 2021 is getting officially unveiled to the public on Thursday, March 11 at an event running from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The Avrio Foundation (Website), an arm of the Downtown Orlando Partnership, in cooperation with the Downtown Arts District, will reveal the new mural, located at 39 S. Magnolia Avenue, in the CityArts courtyard/alleyway.

Artist Jonathan Stemberger describes the “Land of Merchants” mural at CityArts as “roses climbing Joseph’s coat, rising and mirroring the growth of Orlando’s art scene,” said Stemberger. A giant Irish Wolfhound greets viewers at the entrance of the developing CityArts courtyard. A painted chandelier hangs overhead composing the space for upcoming events.
Stemberger hopes the piece will draw creatives to develop their craft and showcase their work within a loving community.

The mural, entitled “Land of Merchants,” was created by local artist Jonathan Stemberger, a graduate of University of Central Florida and is the first of a series of downtown art projects paid for by a Placemaker competition managed by Bungalower editor Brendan O’Connor.
