Howard Middle School Academy of Arts, located at 800 E. Robinson Street [GMap], is working with a group of local artists to install a new series of murals in its outdoor recreation area/courtyard facing Robinson Street.

The Howard Foundation, in partnership with the Downtown Arts District and Thornton Park Main Street, have hired four mural artists to “art up” the outdoor space so it can be used as an outdoor classroom. The participating artists include Samantha Shumaker (Website), Anthony Mancuso (Website), German Lemus (in partnership with PJ Svejda) (Website), and Jonathan Stemberger (in partnership with Paulaidan Minerva) (Website).

The school is asking for community support for the project and its ongoing art programs via THIS LINK and has a fundraising goal of $10,000. The funds will be used to support the mural project, purchase a new piano for the orchestra, repair instruments, and support other teacher needs.
