The City of Winter Park will host a special virtual meeting on Monday, March 15 at 5:30 p.m. to allow the public a chance to comment on the latest Orange Avenue Overlay updates prior to it being approved by Winter Park Planning and Zoning in the near future.
The Orange Avenue Overlay (OAO) will establish new policies and guidelines for future development along the Orange Avenue Corridor, essentially dictating how tall and dense that area of Winter Park will be allowed to be built in coming years.
The OAO was approved by Winter Park’s commissioners last year with a 3-2 vote, which was quickly repealed by new sitting commissioners later in the year following the 2020 election. The upcoming virtual meeting will share what has changed since the repeal.

The overlay explanation video was a great tutorial, but find it interesting they shot this in The Heavy…which if I am understanding the South Gateway – Area D map correctly, The Heavy would be demolished to mark way for that project.
